How Much Does Custom Screen Printing Cost? Let’s Break It Down!
This is our most common question, but the answer isn’t so simple. Like a car repair, it depends on parts (your blank garment) and labor (time to print). Below, we’ll outline the key factors to help you plan your project.
More Colors, More Cost
The more ink colors, the higher the price. Each color requires a separate screen, and screens take time to create. For a 5-color design, that’s 5 screens—taking about 1.5 hours to prep and print a single shirt, increasing costs for small orders.
More Locations, More Cost
Each print location—front, back, sleeve—requires a separate setup. Printing multiple locations isn’t simultaneous, so more time means more money.
Nicer Garments, Higher Price
Garment quality varies widely. Basic cotton tees are affordable, but nicer materials like tri-blends can cost 3x more, reflecting in your final price. Hoodies and polos? Even pricier.
Larger Orders, Lower Cost
The magic happens with volume. Costs drop significantly when you hit 10 units for a 1-color design, and continue to decrease as you reach 50, 100, or more.
So, What’s the Price?
It depends on your project details: number of colors, print locations, garment type, and quantity. For example, a 1-color logo on 100 cotton tees is about $5 per shirt, plus $2 for XXL.
